Wallace Honors Pride Month; Announces Endorsement from Human Rights Campaign

BUCKS COUNTY, PA – Today, Scott Wallace, Democratic nominee for Congress in PA-1, honored Pride Month and announced that he has been endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign. He released the following statement:

“This Pride Month, I am proud to stand with Pennsylvania’s LGBTQ community and to recommit to always being a partner in the battle for justice for every American and Pennsylvanian no matter who they love. As your next Congressman from Pennsylvania’s first district I promise to be your loyal ally in Congress and I am honored to accept an endorsement from the Human Rights Campaign. I know that with this endorsement comes great responsibility to the LGBTQ community and I do not take this responsibility lightly.

“While we have made great strides to legally recognize the equal rights of LGBTQ Americans there is much work to do. I know too many of our gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender brothers and sisters face discrimination and violence every day – on the streets, in the courts, at their neighborhood bakery, in the White House – only because of who they are and who they love.

“In Congress, I will push to amend the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which has been misused to justify discrimination on the pretext of religion. I will stand up to the Trump administration as they take us back decades with their ban on transgender troops, and to the Republicans who stand idly by as our most treasured democratic values — including the rule of law, free press, and the truth itself — fall under attack. You have my solemn promise.”
